Maricopa County Southwest Justice Center

Location: Avondale Arizona

Completion: 11/16

Size: 74,000 sf

The Justice Center leads the way in creating a community-centric facility which houses five individual justice facilities. The new typology of housing multiple courthouses within a single facility presents challenges in wayfinding and monotony of space. The design solution creates an internalized public street, lined by each precinct as a series of courthouses and retail windows, which creates individuality. The result is a desert-friendly structure that brings concerns of security, healthy work environments and community-centric design into a single facility dedicated to serving the public for decades to come.
